UVM Festival of New Music

Program

Three concerts will be held the weekend of April 6-7 at the University of Vermont in Burlington. All concerts will be free and open to the public in the UVM Recital Hall, 392 South Prospect Street, Burlington, Vermont. Further details will be posted in early 2019.

Choral and vocal music: Saturday, April 6, 7:30 p.m.

A concert of music by UVM faculty composers featuring Vermont’s professional vocal ensemble, Counterpoint.

The program will include Patricia Julien’s Three Songs at Winter’s End, a setting of Langston Hughes’ “Mother to Son,” and a new work composed for the festival; the world premiere of David Feurzeig’s Three Mnemonics as well as “Floating Stanzas” from his Songs of Love and Protest; and Matt LaRocca’s Alchemy for viola, piano, and chorus.

Instrumental works: Sunday, April 7, 4:00 p.m.

A concert featuring the winner of our national call for scores, as well as music by current and past UVM faculty.
